On behalf of the local organising committee and the Queensland University of Technology, I warmly invite you to the 2012 International CDIO Conference to be held in Brisbane, Australia. This year’s conference is themed “New Generations”, which celebrates and explores the challenges and opportunities in generational diversity of our academic/faculty members, our students in their engineering programs and industry connections. The international CDIO conferences attract and enjoy rich international participation with early indications through accepted abstracts proving this to continue to be the case for this 8th International CDIO Conference.
Australia is the home of a very active and engaged engineering education community, well represented and supported by the Australasian Association of Engineering Education (AAEE), and with strong relationships with Engineers Australia and the Australian Council of Engineering Deans. A Plenary Session focusing on generational change of the CDIO Initiative itself will open the conference. Internationally recognised engineering education leader Professor Robin King will be delivering the keynote speech, “Global Trends and Challenges in Engineering Education” to set the theme for the second day, and the “New Generations Forum” on the third day, will stimulate discussion and debate around New Generations. All submitted papers are peer reviewed by at least two expert reviewers from an international technical committee based on extended summary submissions. Authors of accepted papers are then requested to submit full papers for inclusion in the conference proceedings. Authors of accepted papers may further opt to submit their full paper for double-blind peer review by at least two expert reviewers from the international technical committee. Exceptional papers will be recommended for submission to the Australasian Journal of Engineering Education (ISSN 1324-5821). The conference proceedings will be allocated an ISBN. The conference will engage delegate participation though a number of themed activities including themed session presentations, oral presentations, facilitated workshops, poster presentations and facilitated round tables. The mode of presentation is reflective of the activity which is most likely to engage the audience for each paper. No one presentation mode should be construed as being any more or any less prestigious to another. The 2012 CDIO Academy welcomes our future generations of engineers and invites submissions from High School and University student teams. Successful applications for the CDIO Academy will be invited to attend the conference to present their project as an integral part of the conference, and will have the opportunity to participate in activities along with other conference participants. July in Brisbane is a beautiful time of year in which to hold this conference, with typically blue skies and a daily maximum of around 67F or 20C. It is also a very busy time of year with many large sporting events and accommodation difficult to secure if left too late. I highly recommend that you make travel arrangements as soon as possible. I look forward to welcoming you in Brisbane for this 8th CDIO International Conference. Duncan Campbell Nguồn http://cdio2012.com
